Project 52: Week 12: Friendship

This week has pretty much been awesome. Two of my best friends came to visit for a total of 2 weeks between the two of them. Angela left today, and I have Cassie til Monday.
Technically I didn't take these, but I set up the camera, my lighting, and my backdrops, and I handed Geoff my camera and he snapped for us. I also edited them.
I love them.
And they love me.
They came all the way to the North Pole to visit me.
And they even got to see a real Minot Blizzard.
Which caused a delay in Angela's flight :D

Angela took our blizzard pic with her long arm. Yes, we are rockin' denios hats, while they serve their full purpose.

Project 52: Week 10: Sweetness

Yet again, I have not had much time to think of this week's project...but I did take this sweet photo of Jordy earlier this week.  Even though she can be a little turd sometimes, she is such a sweet little girl that is full of love, snuggles, kisses, and sometimes, even sweetness :)

Project 52: Week 9: Spring(ish)

Well, at first this week, I couldn't think of anything to do for my project 52 post and felt very uninspired (thinking of making a change and following some sort of new theme but not sure).  So far my themes have been pretty random, but for the most part all focus on our life, here in North Dakota, and the different things we experience here.  Yesterday was "warm" in Minot spring standards.  Yes it is MARCH, but up North, that does not mean spring is starting.  We will usually have snow on the ground through April, and last year we even got a random dusting in May.  Spring is my LEAST favorite season here.  Spring in Minot means SNIRT.  That is right people, I said SNIRT, and it actually is a word up here.  Snirt is the combo of snow and dirt and its gross.  Seriously, I will try to get a picture of it sometime...It makes everything ugly for at least 2 months.  Everything is wet and muddy.  We can't go on walks with the dogs because they come back covered in grossness.  I do love me some summer here though!

Anyways, yesterday I thought this post was going to be super boring.....

What does springtime in Minot look like???
There is actually some grass under there..and some of it is even GREEN!
(Yes that is WATER..not ice...)

....Until....

These photos were taken less then 24 hours after the "spring photos" above! LOL  Gotta love Minot!
I gotta admit...the last 2 photos made this post alot more interesting I thought.

Project 52: Week 8: Collections

I have always collected backdrops and blankets for newborn props...but recently I have realized how easy/cheap fabric is as backdrops, and I am now addicted to finding perfect "backdrop" fabrics....yeah...obsessed.

My biggest and most addicting collection: Christmas stuff. Pretty much anything Christmas related...I am not biased. But my favorites are: gingerbread stuff for my kitchen, snowman stuff for the girls bathroom, and Christmas picture frames. Anyone that knows us at all, knows that this is just a TINY portion of our collection (it is organized in various spots in the garage, so its hard to get it all in one photo) Seriously, I can't help myself...it's a sickness really.

Lat but not least...my babies...my lenses. It is a small collection, but I love each of them, for different reasons. Most people think that your camera is the most important piece of equipment you need for great photos (aside from an actual eye for photography), but in fact, it is the lens.  You can have a $10,000 camera, but if you do not have a decent lens, the camera can only do so much, and your photos will reflect it.  Yes, a good camera is important for getting good photos, but a "kit" lens usually isn't enough for those that want to go a little deeper then just "taking decent photos of my kids".
The only one not pictured, is the one I used to take the photo...my trusty prime lens. It is the least impressive looking on the outside to those who do not know much about photography...but, she gets me the sharpest photos and the most beautiful bokeh, and I use her for a majority of my shoots (indoor and outdoor).  She is probably actually my favorite, followed by my macro.

(don't mind the missing cover...I lose those things like crazy, and am actually suprised I am only missing one)

She did it!

I am happy to announce that Jordy is now officially daytime potty trained!!!!!!!! After 2 years of trying, and quitting, trying and realizing she wasn't ready, trying and having too much going on...finally....she is potty trained! I am happy it happened before her 4th Birthday at least! I am hoping she is nighttime potty trained within the next 6 months, but for now I am extremely happy she is 100% daytime potty trained. She has very very few accidents now...and we even went on a 4 day trip to Fargo and MN, with NOT ONE accident!!! She didn't even wear a pull up in the car, and did GREAT. GO JORDY!!!!
