Project 52: Week 49: Memories

This time last year we were back home in California spending the Holidays with family.
We were JUST getting back from HAWAII!
We were only there a few days, but it was an action packed few days.
Filled with tons and tons of memories for our family.

Going to Hawaii was one of favorite things we have ever done as a family
We created so many awesome memories with our girls those few days...they both still talk about it constantly.  I think the best part was Abby getting to see where she came from and what our life was like when she was a baby.

Holidays...

I thought I would post this, even though I think most of our family and friends already know...

We just wanted to let everyone know, that we will not be coming home, or going anywhere for Christmas this year.  We realized recently that we have not been in our own home for Christmas for the last 3 years.  In fact, since we have been married, we have only spent 2 or 3 Christmas' in our own home.  We have always tried to make sure we spend at least one Holiday season at each base we are stationed at.  We have yet to spend a Christmas in Minot!  With that said, we would LOVE for anyone to come and visit us for Christmas, or even before or after...or for Thanksgiving!  People hear so many horrible things about ND and we feel that nobody thinks it's worth it to come out here and visit us :(  Honestly, it makes us a little sad.  Minot is our home, and we love it, and we would love to share it with our family and friends. We have said it before and we will say it again, that our home is always welcome.  We have the most comfy queen size bed in the world for a guest bed :)  Also, for all you west coast family...we can guarentee you a WHITE CHRISTMAS if you come out to visit!!!

With that we would like to thank those who have come to visit us over the past 2 years:
Grandma Kathi
Grandma Betty
Aunt Carolyn
Angela
Cassie

More Christmas fun!

Just when you thought I was done taking Christmas photos of the girls....
I did a whole bunch more! The girls love getting to put on different outfits, so usaully after a session I have, I let the girls have a turn. There latest one we did today is the Christmas Jammies.

Christmas is near!!!

Sorry we have not been posting much, and by "we" I mean "I" as Geoff never posts so I get all the pressure of remembering to post. I post most updated photos of the girls on facebook, so if you are not already on there, you should be to see our cute kids! We are very excited to come home next week for Christmas! We will be in Sac the 17th-29th. We can't wait to see everyone. Between now and then, I am going to try and post some updated photos. I will also try to post an update on our new life here in freezing North Dakota! Until then, here is some randomness.....

Merry Christmas from the VanDyck's

Okay so most of you recieved our Family Christmas Card...you may have noticed something was missing...our family letter. Someone in our family, we wont mention any names, but lets just say it's the only person with a Y-chromosome, decided to seal them up and mail them off before we printed it off. Anyways here is what should have been included in your Christmas card :)

Christmas 2007
Volume 3
Dear Family and Friends,

First of all we would like to say Merry Christmas to all of our loved ones! We hope this letter finds you in great Christmas Spirit! It has been quite a crazy year in the VanDyck home to say the least. It started out in the beginning of the year when we moved off base and into a big new rental home. We still are unsure about buying because of the uncertainty of how long we will be staying in Texas. Our house now has plenty of room for all of us; the girls have their own rooms and a playroom! We have a nice big green backyard for the girls and Roxy and run around in! We live pretty close to a lot of family friends so that is nice.

After we were all settled and into the new house, Stacy’s Mom came back to Texas for a visit and to wait with us for Jordyn to be born. We waited, and we waited….The Dr’s told us she would definitely come early, so Mom was here about 5 weeks before Jordyn was born, after changing her plane ticket twice. They finally decided to induce Stacy at almost 42 weeks. After 12 hours of induction and some close calls, Jordyn was finally born via c-section on May 16th, 2007. As most of you know, she was in the NICU for 2 weeks for a lot of unsuspected problems. Our Family was finally complete the day she came home from the NICU on May 30th 2007.

Just a few short weeks later, Geoff was to deploy to South America for 2-3 months. We decided it would be best for us to all drive home (what were we thinking??) to California so Stacy and the girls could stay with family. The drive was crazy but we made it. After 2 very long months Geoff came home. We celebrated Abby’s 3rd birthday with our Family and friends in California. On the way back we stopped for a fun-filled family vacation at Disneyland in Southern California. This was Abby’s 1st time to Disneyland and she couldn’t have had more fun!!! It was so awesome to see her with all her favorite characters, including…all of the PRINCESSES! We got to have one-on-one time with each of them one morning, then that night we got to have dinner with them!

After 2 fun days we had to end our short vacation and head back to Texas. We were driving back, only about 4 hours from San Antonio, when the car swerved out of nowhere and Stacy lost control of our vehicle. We ended up rolling down the freeway 4-5 times. God was completely there with us the entire time because we had very MINOR injuries, and the girls were completely unharmed. It’s still hard to believe we survived this sort of accident, but then we think about why and it was ALL GOD!!!

Abby of course is amazingly smart! She now knows her ABC’s, Numbers, Shapes, Colors, Animals, Patterns, etc. We practice in Preschool workbooks pretty much everyday. Jordyn is rolling all over the place. She can roll across the living room in the blink of an eye. She is learning to crawl, but not in any hurry to do it. Abby is Jordyn’s favorite person in the world! She can be crying and just seeing Abby will put a huge smile on her face. We really could not ask for a better pair of sisters!

We are now back in Texas trying to move on with our lives and be happy with all God has blessed us with. The New Year has more adventures to bring and we never know what the future holds. We thank you all for your continued prayers, love and support and we want to make sure that you all know we are always thinking and praying for you all. God Bless and Godspeed to each and every one of you, we will keep you informed of any future events that we are having or can hopefully attend.
Merry CHRIST-mas and Happy HOLY-days

After the Birthday party for Jesus was done and cleaned up, we had to get our stuff ready for Santa! Abby had to put out her cookies, mini cake, milk, and then her homemade reindeer food.

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Christmas Eve we decided to celebrate Jesus' birth by throwing a fun family friendly Birthday Party for him. All our close family friends came and we had a great time. We had a TON of food, campfire, gift exchange for the kids, read the Real Christmas Story, had a campfire and ate ice cream cake after singing Happy Birthday to Jesus and letting all the kids blow out the candles. It was definatly a new family tradion we are going to do each year to come.
